Meet Me at the Faire

Share Post:

If you are attending the HP Technology Forum & Expo 2009 in Las Vegas on June 15-19, I hope that you will be able to join me for these two sessions:

  1. Session 3942 on Thursday 10:30 AM in Banyan E. Will Volume-Level Encryption Keep My Data Safe?
This session will help you understand what volume-level encryption can and cannot do. It will answer many of your questions, such as: What are the downsides of volume-level encryption, whether on native, SAN, or NAS volumes? Under what circumstances will volume-level encryption keep my data safe? When should I use alternative technologies, and what are those technologies? How often do I need to change encryption keys and what do I do when I need to archive or restore my data? This session will help you answer these and other questions about volume-level encryption and the protection that it offers when a disk is lost, stolen, or needs to be returned to the vendor as a spares exchange.

  2. Session 4280 on Wednesday 11:45 AM in Jasmine D. Integrating NonStop Into Your Corporate Compliance Program
Very shortly, HP NonStop community members will be able to leverage the power of the HP Compliance Log Warehouse (CLW) Enterprise Audit Logging and Reporting device to assist them in collecting and managing compliance evidence for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and other mandates. While an effective and usable event log collection infrastructure is requisite for aggregating and processing compliance evidence, much of the power of the CLW is an exercise left to the user. This session will explore how partner products are used to set a baseline security model for your NonStop server, enforce that model, prepare compliance reports, and finally send audit from EMS, Safeguard, Base24, partner products, and your applications to multiple enterprise management and logging systems.
